Shay and Geo

As I was checking my calendar this week, I could not believe it when I realized that today is the 2nd anniversary of Shay and Geo! It really honestly feels like it was just yesterday and maybe that’s because I’ll never forget just how lovely their entire day was. I’d love to share a bit of what my experience was throughout the day, I really think it was something special.

We started off hair and makeup at my very own sibling’s place. Melissa, my sister, was in the wedding which already makes this a wedding that’s very dear to me. Shay is someone I’ve known for over a decade by this point, so to be able to capture one of the most important days for her was really such an amazing feeling. It was such a positive energy all morning and the day was just flying on by. Once we arrived at the church, Shay and Geo exchanged letters in the time before walking down the aisle. The way that these two just absolutely lit up for one another was so heartwarming, I could see in just their expression that they had found their person.

Ceremony went off without a hitch as I worked through the occasional misty eye, I was so grateful to be a part of this gorgeous day. Before the wedding party photos, we headed to one of my favorite STL locations, the St. Louis City Public Library. Indoors and out, this place is amazing. One side is filled with rich and classic architecture, a timeless departure that when you’re inside, feels like you’re instantly transported somewhere else. Shay and Geo were just gleaming with excitement for each other, making my job all that much easier! The other half, if you’re not familiar, is entirely modern and serves as such a fun contrast. Leaving behind the grey stone, it’s white brick almost wall to wall. It was so fun navigating this huge building rich with history with the two of them.

After our fun at the library, we finished up our photos of everyone at Forest Park and it was just a perfect summer day. When we were all wrapped up, we headed to the backyard reception (the likes of which are quickly growing on me, I love the intimate nature of these weddings). The rest of the night was filled with the sweetest words spoken by their closest loved ones and we all partied the night away both in and outside.

2 years strong today, I wanted to wish them a very happy anniversary! In the time I’ve been lucky enough to be with them since, that look is still there, ever-present between them. These two were just made for each other and I am so glad I was able to capture their love that day for them. Happy anniversary Shay and Geo, here’s to many more to come!
